Sessions

Currently, Dr. Trachtenberg provides virtual services via a secure online portal. Sessions are held over video conferencing.

All individual therapy sessions typically run for 50 minutes.

Sessions are billed in line with the suggested rates by the Ontario Psychological Association. Payment is due on the day of the appointment using a credit card on a secure online profile.

Psychological services are not covered by OHIP. However, some or all of your session fees may be covered if you have private health insurance or extended benefits through your employer. It is highly recommended that you contact your insurance provider to determine the extent of your coverage. Following each session, you will be billed directly, and with insurance coverage, you can submit your receipt to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Since therapy can involve discussing painful life experiences and situations, you may experience uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, or recall troubling memories.
However, the benefits of therapy can include a greater understanding of your difficulties, and overall improvements in your emotional and psychological health.

Dr. Trachtenberg does not provide emergency services. In case of emergency, you should go to the Emergency Department of your nearest hospital or call 911. You can also call the Gerstein Crisis Centre at 416-929-5200. They have crisis workers available to speak with 24/7.
Virtual Therapy

We use software with secure end-to-end encryption, meeting requirements for the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). No one other than yourself and Dr. Trachtenberg will have access to your telehealth session without your permission.

1) At the time of a session, you must be physically located in Ontario. If you are travelling outside of Ontario, Dr. Trachtenberg will not be able to provide a session, unless special permission has been granted.
2) It is strongly recommend that you choose a secure and private space ahead of time before participating in a session. This space should be quiet and free from distractions and interruptions.
3) You will need to ensure that you can connect using high-speed internet or cellular data. When using the internet, it’s important to use a secure, password protected internet connection, rather than public WiFi.
4) Sometimes technical issues can arise. It is recommended that you keep your phone handy in case Dr. Trachtenberg needs to move to a telephone session.
